Dear Friends and Music Lovers,
It may be cold outside but we have a festive feast of musical events to give you a rosy glow this winter. Even Mini-Mozart is getting in the mood - jingle bells and all!
The orchestra is performing in some gorgeous settings this winter. The musicians will be surrounded by twinkling pines this weekend at St.Peter’s Church, Burnley during their annual Christmas Tree Festival and Lancaster Cathedral is beautiful bathed in candlelight.
Director, Terence Charlston is “Mr Keyboard” in the elite world of Early Music. Born and brought up in Blackpool, Terry is a recent re-discovery for the orchestra. He will direct from the keyboard alongside one of Lancashire's most exquisite violinists, Sarah Brandwood Spencer.
Make sure you put our January dates in the calendar! - an epic programme of Romantic works will include the UK premiere of Julian Yu's interpretation of Pictures at an Exhibition. The music is Mussorgsky, but the wonderful textures of Yu's reorchestration brings a new dimension to the brush strokes. Amanda Roocroft joins Lyn Fletcher for another astonishing reworking of Mahler 4.
